X-Man.

Growing up in the inner city of Chicago with gangs,
violence & hopelessness, there wasn’t much 2 look
up 2 on the positive spectrum.

Options were extremely limited while diligently
searching for something truly impactful until one day
getting my hands on a small paperback
Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley
at a local thrift store….

A thrift store. Really? Out of all places. (lol)…

things surely happens the strangest of ways & of course a reason;)

This is a period when things began 2 open up with the ambition 2 read about history, culture & identity. Amazed at how such a book about a young man with a troubled past while facing the odds during the 1960’s could have such a massive impaction the world.

One thing that stood out about Malcolm was his motivation 2 teach self while incarcerated making him one of our prolific thinkers of that time.

If he could achieve such a task,
then what’s my excuse?

From that point, life drastically changed knowing despite
the condition in which lived, perseverance
with a bold fearless approach would
pay off 2 be so much more.

Knowing this, it become my duty
& responsibility 2 ensure that his life is remembered with a greater appreciation.

Hmmph…I wonder how would things be today
if someone like him ever existed for he wasn’t
just any ordinary man….he was..

Meaning.

Dreams have been built & we’ve celebrated some of the most perfect days but during the process those loved most have since left us.

RIP sister Vivian…you’re loved & missed ;(

On the other hand, there’s been times where we laughed until it hurt & prayed in empty parking lots where my friends were the church.

Come 2 think of it, looking back over the years, some of the very best support came from that element & wouldn’t have it any other way.
There’s nothing like a hefty life lesson learned.

Some how, some way we’ve come 2 realize that joy can take you 2 wonderful places while the pain could cut painfully deep…Ouch!

Excuse me…clear throat…

there’s fear,

there’s faith,
there’s loss,
there’s grace.
(in no particular order.)

It’s been seen on both sides yet still…we stand. Now this is what it means 2 be alive…

No one is ever perfect but know there’s wonderful favor if you only BELIEVE.

With opened eyes you soon realize that everything spoken can actually BE.

An imperfect you can still be used.
Not an option, nor a plan B.

Lift heads high cause it’s time 2 become more.

Strong enough to overcome daggers that comes along
cause GOD knew what he was doin’ choosin’ the “BEST”….

Fall.

In a world full of disappointment & heartbreak, we all seem 2 have our fair share. I for one have looked straight in the face of a goodbye.

Walking on the very edge of darkness…
even after all this time.
Though that may be my reality, I refuse 2 “FALL”.

On the verge of an emotional break down, something deep from within encourages me 2 avoid that dreadful bleed out.

There’s just 2 much 2 lose.

Nope. Just can’t allow myself 2 succumb 2 the weakness
no matter how tough.

Just when the four walls try 2 cave me in & the ground underneath starts 2 shake.

Hope is what I cling 2 – while hoping 2 God that it never leaves.

Yep!….even after all this time.

Even after the negativity make it’s attempt 2 take it all away,
everything just simply turns 2 dust.
(poof!)

Knowing this beautiful rule, the bullets & all the bombs fired
only makes me stronger.

So go on ahead….take your shot & see if I “FALL”.

Ain’t happening…..Nope!
